Undergraduate Nutrition Student Organization
The UNM Undergraduate Nutrition Student Organization is a chartered student organization whose purpose is to provide an opportunity for Nutrition / Dietetics students to become familiar with their future profession through the university educational setting, as well as the professional community setting. Membership is open to all students who have completed one nutrition course and have an interest in nutrition.
Some past Undergraduate Nutrition Student Organization activities include:
  • Conducting Healthy Cooking Classes in school and community settings
  • Development and delivery of interactive nutrition education, healthy recipes and cooking tips for health fairs and school programs
  • Food drives for local food banks
  • Cooking and serving at Project Share, Ronald McDonald House
  • Picnic in the Park for the Albuquerque homeless community
  • Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Fundraising Walk for American Cancer Society
  • Field trip to Clinical Research Center Bionutrition Unit
  • Lecture series with nutrition professionals from various fields of practice and academia

The Undergraduate Nutrition Student Organization will have a table on the 2nd floor of the SUB (near the food vendors). We'll be distributing nutrition materials and talking to students, staff and faculty about nutrition.

Hunger and Poverty Awareness Day
The UNM Undergraduate Nutrition Student Organization is sponsoring a day of awareness for hunger and poverty in New Mexico on Thursday, April 19th from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. The goal is to raise awareness of the issues, to dispel some of the myths surrounding hunger and poverty in our state, and to present potential solutions in a positive way.

World Food Day Teleconference 9:00 am to 2:30pm at CNM
This was an excellent conference last year, and is sure to be just as informative this year. Get involved in actions to improve food security in Albuquerque, all of New Mexico and beyond.
World Food Day, October 16th, is a worldwide event designed to increase awareness, understanding and informed, year-around action to alleviate hunger. This year’s World Food Day Teleconference will examine the unique and potentially powerful role played by the hundreds of grassroots’ based movements working for a world free of hunger.
The New Mexico World Food Day Conference takes place on Monday, October 16 from 9:00 am – 2:30 pm at CNM Community College, Jeanette Stromberg Hall, 2000 Coal Street, Albuquerque, NM
